The history of Bloom Eye Associates dates back to 1970, the year Dr. Harry D. Carrozza opened his ophthalmology practice in the Roxborough Hospital Medical Building. Dr. Carrozza was dedicated to providing patients with comprehensive eyecare along with the utmost friendliness and compassion. It didn’t take long for physicians to start referring their patients to Dr. Carrozza.
In 1986, Board-Certified Ophthalmologist Dr. Lawrence H. Bloom joined the practice when it moved to its current location in the Jamestown Medical Building. When Dr. Carrozza retired in 1998, it was renamed Bloom Eye Associates.
The practice expanded its capabilities in 1990 by adding another Board-Certified Ophthalmologist, Dr. Anthony Antonello, and again in 1993 with the addition of Dr. Andrew Pritchard, a Board-Certified Optometrist. In 2009, the practice welcomed Dr. Suzanne Pesce, another Board-Certified Ophthalmologist, to the staff.
From a humble beginning with one ophthalmologist, Bloom Eye Associates now offers comprehensive, university-level eyecare from a team of Philadelphia eye doctors and have a support staff of more than ten. Everyone at Bloom Eye Associates still follows the same commitment to excellent patient care that was set forth by Dr. Carrozza nearly 40 years ago.
Finally, at Bloom Eye Associates, we're proud to have made university-level eyecare the cornerstone of our practice philosophy. This means staying at the forefront of our field through continuing education, ongoing research and membership in several prestigious organizations. In addition, we are actively involved with the local medical community. Dr. Bloom is the Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, and Drs. Antonello and Pesce are also active staff members.
